The Armenian community in the Netherlands was formed in the 16th and 17th centuries. The current population of about 40,000 consists of those who came to the Netherlands since the 1950s and Armenians who moved from Armenia after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

High Commissioner Zareh Sinanyan received Mato Hakhverdian, President of the Federation of Armenian Organisations in the Netherlands. The organization, which has been operating for almost two decades, is the main lobbying body of the Armenian community of the Netherlands.
