The High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Zareh Sinanyan, conducted a two-day working visit to the Republic of Moldova

The High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Zareh Sinanyan, conducted a two-day working visit to the Republic of Moldova.

On November 25, the High Commissioner traveled to Chișinău, where he held meetings with representatives of Moldova’s executive and legislative authorities.

In Chișinău, Zareh Sinanyan met with the Moldova–Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group, led by its chair, Gaik Vardanean.

During the discussion, the sides addressed current areas of cooperation, opportunities for expanding collaboration, and prospects for deepening interparliamentary ties between the two countries.

Following the meeting with the Parliamentary Friendship Group, the High Commissioner met with Violina Donu, Head of the Diaspora Relations Bureau within the State Chancellery of the Republic of Moldova.

The High Commissioner presented Armenia’s experience in working with diaspora communities, highlighting the importance of exchanging best practices between the two countries.

The two sides discussed state and civil society programs in both countries aimed at supporting repatriation.

The High Commissioner also introduced his Moldovan counterpart to the Office’s iGorts program, which invites Diaspora Armenian professionals to serve in the public sector and the Government of the Republic of Armenia, as well as the Diaspora Youth Ambassador program, which enables young Armenians from the diaspora to experience Armenia for two weeks and later serve as a bridge between their communities and the homeland.

The meeting also touched on the work of the Repatriation and Integration Center of the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, whose goal is to support Armenians who want to repatriate as well as those who have already returned to Armenia.

That same day, the High Commissioner met with Valentina Olaru, State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova.

The discussion focused on the possibility of offering Armenian as an optional course in Moldovan schools. The parties agreed to continue working in this direction, building on models that have already been successfully tested in Moldova.

At the end of the day, the High Commissioner visited the Holy Mother of God Armenian Apostolic Church in Chișinău and the newly renovated Armenian Sunday School.
