On August 24, the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia launched the sixth edition of the Diaspora Youth Ambassador Program in Yerevan.
The program aims to provide young Armenians from the Diaspora with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of Armenia’s political, social, economic, and civic processes; encourage their active engagement in community life; foster the development of new knowledge, skills, and professional connections; and strengthen cooperation among young people from Armenia and different Diaspora communities.
The 2026-2027 cohort includes 29 young Armenians from the Diaspora representing 17 countries.
The opening ceremony featured remarks by Zareh Sinanyan, High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia; Lilit Khachatryan, Program Director; Hovhannes Aleksanyan, Head of the Repatriation and Integration Center; as well as alumni and participants of the program.
Welcoming the participants, Zareh Sinanyan said:
“Over the years, we have succeeded in building a network of Diaspora Youth Ambassadors whose members know Armenia not only through an emotional connection, but also through hands-on experience. In their communities, they become strong representatives of Armenia. Throughout the program and beyond, we will be by your side as partners.”
During the event, the High Commissioner also presented certificates to participants of the 2025-2026 cohort of the Diaspora Youth Ambassador Program.
As part of the program, the participants will spend 13 days in Armenia, taking part in a specially designed educational program featuring lectures, workshops, meetings with representatives of the public and private sectors, and experience-sharing sessions.
Participants will visit government, academic, educational, cultural, and religious institutions, as well as memorial sites and different regions of the Republic of Armenia, gaining first-hand insight into the country’s various areas of development.
Following the completion of the program, each participant will implement initiatives outlined as part of the program in their respective community over the course of one year, contributing to stronger ties between Armenia and the Diaspora and fostering youth cooperation.
