Social Services Number

The RA Social Services Number (social security card) guarantees the exercise of the social security rights of citizens. 

The Republic of Armenia issues Social Services Number to citizens of the Republic of Armenia, and to foreign nationals having the right to reside and residing in the Republic of Armenia.

It has a unique serial number and is necessary for employment, as well as:

• To receive poverty family benefits
• To receive unemployment benefits
• To receive old-age pensions
• To receive disability pensions
• To receive any other government benefit
• To open a bank account
• To pay taxes
• To obtain licenses

You will need your passport or residency permit to be able to apply for a Social Services Number.

If you obtain an Identification Card (ID card) issued in the form of a plastic card, it will include your Social Services Number. So there will be no need to obtain an additional Social Services Number (social security card). Only citizens of the Republic of Armenia can receive an Identification Card (ID card).
