Ireland
Armenians settled in Ireland in small numbers during the 20th century. The Batmazian spouses opened the Armenian bakery Hadji Bey in 1902 after fleeing Ottoman persecution.
Today around three hundred Armenians live in Ireland, predominanlty in the capital city of Dublin. The community is well-organized: Armenian classes are held every Sunday at the St. Hripsime School for around 30 children. A priest comes over from London once a month to provide religious services. During the commemorations of April 24, the community gathers at Christ Church Cathedral in the city center.
A khachkar depicting a Celtic cross fused with an Armenian cross was inaugurated by the cathedral in 2015.
