During his working trip to London, High Commissioner Zareh Sinanyan visited the Centre for Armenian Information and Advice (Hayashen) where he met with CEO Misak Ohanian and board members. They showcased the center's activities, programs catering to diverse age groups, archival resources, and publications to the High Commissioner.
Discussions revolved around community concerns, organizational challenges, and Armenia's current issues. There was a specific emphasis on initiatives aimed at engaging the Diaspora's potential in Armenia's development, with a shared hope for increased involvement in the homeland's progress.
Subsequently, the High Commissioner toured the Armenian Institute, established in 2001 to foster connections among Armenia, the Diaspora, and various cultures. Director Juan de Lara presented insights into the Armenian National Library's operations, including events, courses, and ongoing digitization efforts.
Highlighting the continuous growth of the collection contributed by Calouste Gulbenkian, the first Armenology professor at Oxford University, the High Commissioner noted the ongoing expansion fuelled by contributions from other notable donors.
The meeting concluded with discussions on pertinent issues, challenges, and the significance of maintaining close collaboration with Armenia.
