Initial Phase of Free Armenian Language Classes for Repatriates Completed
17 April 2024
The initial phase of the 2024 Armenian language classes concluded at the Repatriation and Integration Center of the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs. 62 repatriates from 13 countries participated in this initial stage of the classes, representing Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Iran, USA, Turkmenistan, Syria, Lebanon, Switzerland, Kazakhstan, Canada, Spain, and France. Following the classes, participants underwent testing and received certificates.
According to Hovhannes Aleksanyan, responsible for repatriation issues at the Office, the classes have been conducted for three consecutive years, with a total of 537 individuals participating. The primary objective is to equip repatriates with the necessary language skills, both oral and written, to facilitate their swift integration into Armenian society.
The classes were conducted in collaboration with the educational platform M.A.M. "This marks our inaugural partnership with the state system in this format. We approached this endeavor with utmost responsibility. All course materials were specially prepared using innovative methods. A total of 30 sessions were conducted, enabling participants to achieve a basic level of proficiency," emphasized Marine Ghazaryan, founder of the M.A.M. educational online platform.
"I am very glad that I can learn the Armenian language; I enjoy it immensely. I aspire to relocate to Armenia and settle here, which is impossible without mastering the language. I am deeply grateful for this opportunity," said Eric Halafyan, a repatriate from Russia.
As part of the classes, participants enhanced both their oral and written skills.
The second phase of the free Armenian language course is scheduled to commence on April 22nd.
