The Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs has initiated the inaugural phase of the Step toward Home educational program for Diaspora Armenian youth at the "Writers' House" resort in Tsaghkadzor. This year, the program spans six stages over two weeks, welcoming 600 participants from 19 countries. The primary aim is to nurture and enhance national identity among Diaspora Armenian adolescents and young adults, while fostering a stronger bond with their homeland.

The initial phase of the program hosts 55 participants from Russia, Georgia, and Ireland. Mushegh Ghukasyan, the Chief of Staff at the Office, extended a warm welcome to the participants, emphasizing that the Step toward Home provides a comprehensive opportunity to explore and connect with Armenia. The 13-day camp curriculum encompasses Armenian language, patriotism, national music and dance classes, guided tours to historical and cultural sites, museum visits, engagements with governmental, civic, cultural, and artistic figures, as well as sports and cultural activities. Mushegh Ghukasyan highlighted that amidst the packed schedule, participants will not only acquire new knowledge and skills but also forge lasting friendships.

The opening ceremony featured cultural performances by the participants. 

Throughout this phase, participants will visit Matenadaran, Oshakan, the Armenian Genocide Memorial, Garni, Geghard, Gyumri, Haghartsin Monastery, Goshavank, Sardarapat Heroic Battle Memorial, Holy Etchmiadzin Mother See, Sevanavank, and will engage in meetings at the American University of Armenia, Tumo Center for Creative Technologies, PicsArt, AGBU Virtual University, and other venues.
