19 June 2024
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan hosted participants of the iGorts program, an initiative by the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs designed to involve Diaspora specialists in Armenia's state administration system.
The Prime Minister welcomed the participants, noting that such meetings have become a tradition, offering a platform to discuss various issues. He highlighted the importance of the iGorts program, emphasizing its unique role in connecting Diaspora Armenians with the state system of Armenia.
Nikol Pashinyan noted that deep changes are taking place in Armenia today, which are primarily of social and psychological significance. "These are changes in thinking, and I think that these changes are inevitably happening and will happen in the Diaspora as well. And it is critical that we map this changing mindset correctly. As a result, we must inevitably record that the Armenian statehood, the Republic of Armenia, is at the core of it," the Prime Minister said.
At the same time, according to the Prime Minister, the iGorts program is becoming more important because it gives our compatriots in the Diaspora an opportunity to see Armenia from all angles, creating an organic link between the Republic of Armenia and the Diaspora.
High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan thanked Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for his high praise and provided updates on the program's progress. Notably, 7 out of 50 participants in the 2023-2024 program have already obtained Armenian citizenship and decided to move to Armenia permanently. According to Zareh Sinanyan, 70 percent of participants over the past three years have chosen to connect their future with Armenia and relocate to their homeland.
The iGorts participants expressed their gratitude to the Government of Armenia for the opportunity to work in various state departments and shared their experiences and impressions.
Following this, the Prime Minister addressed questions from the participants on topics including cybersecurity, government programs in tourism and education, and the functioning of the state administration system.
