High Commissioner Zareh Sinanyan met with Éric Fournier, the Mayor of Chamonix, in eastern France.

Chamonix, located in the French Alps, is one of the world’s most iconic ski destinations. It hosted the first Winter Olympic Games in 1924 and is home to the Aiguille du Midi cable car, which was the highest in the world when it opened in 1955.

During their meeting, Zareh Sinanyan introduced Mayor Fournier to Armenia’s ski resorts and winter sports destinations, highlighting the growing interest among both locals and tourists in Armenia’s winter recreation opportunities.

They discussed potential collaboration between Chamonix and one of Armenia’s ski towns, including experience exchange and the possibility of establishing a sister-city relationship.

At the end of the meeting, the High Commissioner invited Mayor Fournier to visit Armenia.
