As part of his working visit to Germany, the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Zareh Sinanyan, met on May 19 with Martin Schaefer, District Mayor of Berlin’s Lichtenberg borough, and Professor Dr. Martin Pätzold, Member of the Berlin House of Representatives.

Mr. Sinanyan thanked them for the warm welcome and for their continued support of the Armenian community in Germany.

Mayor Schaefer expressed interest in the needs of the local Armenian community and confirmed his willingness to help address the issues raised, within the scope of his authority, and to contribute to improving community life.

The meeting covered opportunities to further strengthen cooperation between Yerevan and Berlin, and more broadly between Armenia and Germany, particularly in the areas of economy, culture, education, tourism, and other key sectors.

Special focus was placed on deepening bilateral economic ties.

With Professor Dr. Martin Pätzold, they also discussed the potential of organizing a German-Armenian Economic Forum in Berlin. Preparatory efforts for this initiative are expected to begin soon.

The sides agreed to maintain ongoing cooperation through reciprocal visits and the implementation of joint initiatives in the areas discussed.
