High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Zareh Sinanyan paid a working visit to the Republic of Cyprus.

On August 26, in Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus, Mr. Sinanyan took part in the opening ceremony of the World Conference of Cyprus Diaspora.

The ceremony was opened with remarks by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides; the President of the Cypriot House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou; the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, Constantinos Kombos; the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Ioannis Loverdos; His Beatitude Archbishop of Cyprus Georgios Papachrysostomou; as well as the heads of the Cypriot diaspora’s global organizations (POMAK, NEPOMAK, PSEKA).

Within the framework of the conference, the High Commissioner held brief meetings with Theodora Constantinidou, Head of the Service for Overseas and Repatriated Cypriots at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, and Ioannis Loverdos, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece.

The discussions focused on the implementation of the Trilateral Memorandum of Cooperation on Diaspora Affairs between Armenia, Greece, and Cyprus, as well as the prospects for expanding trilateral cooperation.

It should be recalled that under the memorandum signed in 2022, the relevant agencies of Armenia, Greece, and Cyprus cooperate in the areas of experience-sharing, strengthening intercommunity collaboration, organizing joint educational and cultural programs, and consolidating efforts on diaspora-related issues.
