The second day of Zareh Sinanyan's working visit to Moldova

On the second day of his working visit to Moldova, the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Zareh Sinanyan, met with the President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Grosu, the Director of the Agency for Interethnic Relations, Vyacheslav Ryabchinsky, and representatives of the Armenian community of Moldova.
At the beginning of his meeting with Igor Grosu, the President of the Moldovan Parliament, Zareh Sinanyan congratulated him on his recent electoral victory and emphasized the importance of strengthening Armenia–Moldova relations.
President Igor Grosu thanked the High Commissioner for his visit to Moldova and highlighted its significance for strengthening ties with diaspora communities in both countries, sharing experience related to repatriation initiatives, and deepening bilateral cooperation.
The interlocutors discussed a wide range of issues related to enhancing Armenia–Moldova relations and expanding bilateral cooperation in various areas.
That same day, Zareh Sinanyan also met with Vyacheslav Ryabchinsky, Director of the Agency for Interethnic Relations of the Republic of Moldova.
During the meeting, Mr. Ryabchinsky presented data on national minorities in Moldova, noting that they constitute around 14% of the population. According to various estimates, there are about 10,000 Armenians living in Moldova.
The discussion focused on the possibility of involving all Armenian community organizations in Moldova in the work of the Coordinating Council operating under the Agency.
The sides also touched upon the participation and engagement of national minorities in shaping language-related policies in the country.
Zareh Sinanyan and Vyacheslav Ryabchinsky also discussed a broad range of issues aimed at revitalizing the life of the Armenian community, including the creation of Armenian football teams and the organization of community sports tournaments.
Special attention was given to matters concerning the preservation of Armenian historical heritage in Moldova.
During the conversation, Mr. Ryabchinsky also expressed Moldova's readiness to support the Armenian community of Ukraine.
The High Commissioner’s two-day visit to Moldova concluded with a meeting with representatives of the Armenian community, during which the Office’s programs and initiatives were presented.
The meeting concluded with a Q&A session, during which the High Commissioner answered questions from community members, primarily related to the procedures for obtaining Armenian citizenship, training programs for diaspora teachers, the provision of textbooks for Armenian schools, and information regarding other programs and initiatives carried out in Armenia.
