On June 19, accompanied by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Ethiopia, Sahak Sargsyan, the High Commissioner visited the headquarters of the African Union in Addis Ababa, where he met with Dr. Yann Bedzigui, Chief of Staff of the African Union Commission.

During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities for establishing and developing practical cooperation on diaspora affairs between the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the African Union. They exchanged perspectives on the effective engagement of diaspora potential, the strengthening of community ties, youth engagement, and the prospects for sharing expertise in the development and implementation of relevant programs.

Particular attention was given to the establishment of an institutional framework for cooperation. In this context, the parties discussed the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the African Union, aimed at creating a foundation for long-term cooperation.

The parties expressed their readiness to continue working toward the finalization of the memorandum, emphasizing that its signing would provide an important impetus for the implementation of joint initiatives and programs.
