Zareh Sinanyan, continues his working visit to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia

On June 21, as part of the visit, the High Commissioner, accompanied by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Ethiopia, Sahak Sargsyan, visited the St. George Armenian Apostolic Church in Addis Ababa.

Zareh Sinanyan attended the Divine Liturgy, after which he toured the church premises and was introduced to its history, activities, and the specific features of community life organization.

The High Commissioner then held a meeting with Ambassador Amr Aljowaily, Director of the Citizens and Diaspora Organizations Directorate (CIDO) of the African Union Commission. The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Ethiopia, Sahak Sargsyan.

During the discussion, the parties exchanged views on opportunities to expand cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and the African Union in the field of diaspora affairs. They addressed prospects for developing cooperation between the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Citizens and Diaspora Organizations Directorate of the African Union Commission, as well as possibilities for sharing best practices aimed at effectively engaging diaspora potential.

A key topic of the meeting was the process of concluding a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The parties discussed the provisions of the draft agreement, reaffirming their mutual readiness to continue work toward its finalization. It was noted that the draft MoU is currently under consideration, and its signing is planned in the near future, which would provide a new impetus for deepening cooperation between the two institutions.
