Cypriot Armenian Politician Vartkes Mahdessian Awarded Medal of Gratitude

Vartkes Mahdessian, state representative of the Armenian community in the House of Representatives of Cyprus, was awarded the Medal of Gratitude by the President of the Republic of Armenia on the occasion of Armenia’s Independence Day.

Vartkes Mahdessian was elected as the state representative of the Armenian community in the House of Representatives of Cyprus in 2006 and was reelected to the same position in 2011, 2016, and 2021. As a state representative, he has contributed greatly to the development and strengthening of Armenian-Cypriot relations.
Vartkes Mahdessian has made a substantial contribution to the development and preservation of the Armenian identity of the Armenian community of Cyprus. During the 44-day Artsakh War and in the post-war period, he provided great support to Armenia and Artsakh, organizing the transport of two planes and two trucks carrying humanitarian aid to Armenia and Artsakh.
