High Commissioner Concludes Working Visit to Belarus

During his working trip to Belarus, High Commissioner Zareh Sinanyan met with the Director and teaching staff at the Armenian Sunday School located in No. 4 Secondary School in Minsk.
Meeting participants underlined the importance of the school’s work in preserving Armenian identity. Both sides discussed the school’s educational programs, professionally training the teaching staff in Armenia, and matters of getting students involved in academically motivational and intellectual contests.
In Belarus, Zareh Sinanyan met with Armen Khechoyan, the Co-Founder and Director-General of the “Aniv” Foundation for Development and Support of Armenian Studies.
They noted the importance of Armenian studies and research in the institutional development of community life. In this context, they emphasized the importance of academic papers published by the “Aniv” Foundation, particularly those that educate Belarusian society about the Armenian soldiers who gave their lives for the liberation of Belarus during the Great Patriotic War.
On the High Commissioner’s agenda during his trip to Belarus was a meeting with Armenian entrepreneurs. Each of them spoke about their business activities in Belarus with the High Commissioner.
They discussed the programs and initiatives implemented by our Office, and some practical ways that Armenian entrepreneurs in Belarus can help in the development of the Armenian economy.
The RA High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan, accompanied by the Armenian Ambassador to Belarus Razmik Khumaryan, also visited the location allotted for the construction of an Armenian Apostolic Church in Minsk. A ceremony of laying the foundation for the church is planned to be held this Spring.
