The High Commissioner had an agenda full of meetings in Aleppo. On his first day, he visited the Cathedral of the Holy Forty Martyrs of the Armenian Diocese of Beroea, met with His Eminence Masis Zoboyan, Armenian Orthodox Archbishop of Aleppo, and representatives of the national authorities. The High Commissioner was informed about the Diocese’s activities.
At the church of Surb Astvatsatsin of the Armenian Diocese of Beroea, Zareh Sinanyan met with the Head of the Diocese, His Eminence Archbishop Petros Miriatyan and the charity commission. Later, the High Commissioner laid flowers at the Armenian Genocide Monument located on the church’s premises.
At the Bethel Church of the Armenian Missionary Community in Aleppo, Zareh Sinanyan met with Reverend Dr. Harutyun Selimyan, representatives of the missionary community, teachers, and students of the school. The High Commissioner was welcomed with the traditional bread and salt and the orchestra performed national anthems of Armenia and Syria. Zareh Sinanyan laid flowers at the Armenian Genocide Monument located on the church’s premises. The students of the Bethel secondary school organized an event, where the history of the Armenian Evangelical community in Syria were presented to the High Commissioner.
In his speech, Reverend Selimyan stated that the Homeland they had dreamed of for years remains invaluable to them. The High Commissioner stressed that the office's cooperation with the Armenian Missionary Association of America and its branches is an excellent example of effective work.
