The presentation of Argentinian-Armenian author Macada Tagachian’s Rojava

20 Fabruary 2023

Per the invitation of the Ambassador of Argentina to the Republic of Armenia Mariano Vergara, our Office met with Argentinian-Armenian author Magda Tagtachian whose novel, Rojava (2023) was recently translated into Armenian by Newmag Publishing House in Yerevan.

Tagtachian, who was born and raised in Buenos Aries is the granddaughter of Genocide survivors. Her books, have allowed her to dive deep into her family history, into the interwoven stories of Armenian and Kurdish struggle, and have helped her discover her long-lost family members living in Armenia.

Rojava, which was officially deputed on Saturday, during Newmag’s Winter Festival, follows the story of Nané Parsehyan, who embarks on a journey in search of her biological father.

The translation of Rojava into Armenian is a welcome initiative and an important stepping stone for building bridges between Armenian authors from the Diaspora and the Armenian public. Tagtachians works include Forget me not, Armenuhi (2016), Alma Armenia (2020), and Artsakh (2022), which explore memory, identity, love, and conflict.
