During his visit to the Syrian Arab Republic, the High Commissioner, Zareh Sinanyan, travelled to Kessab and met with the city's mayor, Vazgen Chaparyan. Then he visited the Armenian Apostolic, Armenian Catholic and Armenian Evangelical communities and discussed the consequences of the earthquake. In this area, the Sourb Asdvadzin Church of the Armenian Apostolic Community was significantly affected. 

After Kessab, Zareh Sinanyan paid a visit to Latakia and met with representatives of the district council and local structures, which comprised more than 500 Armenian families. The spiritual leader of Tartus and Latakia, the Venerable Vazgen Keoshkerian, was also present at the meeting, which took place at St. Astvatsatsin Church. 

This was followed by a tour of the National College of Holy Martyrs, which has 310 students.
