Driving in Armenia
To drive a car in the Republic of Armenia, it is necessary to have a national driver's license or have a driver's license of the member countries of the Vienna Convention.
According to the Vienna Convention “On Road Traffic” of November 8, 1968, the countries that have acceded to the above-mentioned Convention, their citizens can drive a vehicle in the Republic of Armenia with their national driver’s license.

Written and practical exams
In order to obtain a national driver's license in the Republic of Armenia, it is necessary to register for participation in written (the questionnaire contains 1116 questions, of which 20 questions are in each questionnaire and you need at least 18 correct answers to pass) and practical (driving in urban conditions) exams, which is done online by filling out an application on the roadpolice.am website, after which you will receive a text message or call telling you the place and time for the test.
You will receive the score of the written exam immediately after you take the test, after which you can apply for the driving test.
Required documents and payments
You will need your passport or other ID stating place of residence in order to take the test.
- Written test: 3000 AMD
- Driving test: 13000 AMD
- Cost of license: 12000 AMD
Additional Information
The minimum age to apply for a driver's license is 18 years. Car insurance is obligatory when driving in Armenia.

International driving license
How do I get an international driver's license?
To participate in international automobile traffic, an international driver's license is issued within one working day on the basis of a national driver's license, without taking theoretical and/or practical exams.
In order to obtain an international driver's license, a person submits to the examination body:
- identification document
- one (color) photograph of 3x4 size
- receipt of payment of the state fee for issuing a driver's license (12,000 AMD)
- national driver's license, valid
An international driver's license is issued for a period of up to three years, but not longer than the validity period of a national driver's license.
Driving license to drive a moped
To drive a moped, you need an "AM" driver's license subcategory. According to the police, a moped is a two-wheeled or three-wheeled mechanical vehicle with an internal combustion engine with a working volume not exceeding 50 cm or with an electric motor with a maximum power of more than 0.25 kilowatts and less than 4 kilowatts in long-term load mode, the maximum speed of which does not exceed 50 km/h.
A quad bike is also considered to be a moped.
Citizens over 16 years of age can get this type of driver's license.
