Anush Vardanyan
Anush Vardanyan is a screenwriter, writer, lecturer, and artist. She was born in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg) in 1967 to a family of architects. In 1977, she moved with her father to Yerevan, where she graduated in 1983. After returning to Russia, she studied at the St. Petersburg Theater Academy (history and theory of theater) and the University of Cinema and Television (film directing). In 2011, she studied in the USA at NTFA (New York Film Academy). She worked at the film studios Lenfilm and Open Studio LenDok as a screenwriter of the films “Street Racers,” “Reverse Motion” (Kinotavr Prize for the best screenplay in 2010), “Vasilisa” 72 Hours” and 30 others. Author of several books, including “Wax” “My Dad is a Shoemaker” and “Don Corleone”’ and “Paper Weasels.”
As an artist, she participates in art exhibitions. A well-known author's project, the exposition “Volleyball for Candlemas,” based on the song of the same name by Yuri Vizbor, was presented to an audience in the spring and summer of 2019 in Moscow at the Cinema Museum.
In addition, she participates in educational programs at the Propp Center in St. Petersburg.
