Armina Mamikonyan
My name is Armina Mamikonyan and I was born in the city of Vanadzor in Armenia. I have been living in Russia since I was 4 years old. I am a journalist by profession, a public figure, and the art director of the Armenia Pavilion of the VDNH (Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy).
What do I do in one of the most important sites in Moscow? I prepare the Armenia Pavilion for various events, provide communications between the public and the media, and prepare advertisements.
Despite the fact that I am more involved in social activities, I must admit that there are no former journalists. I have 13 years of experience in the field of journalism, 10 of which were spent at Armenian media companies.
By my count, I have organized more than 200 public events in Moscow aimed at preserving and popularizing Armenian culture and strengthening ties between Armenians living in Moscow.
During my 8 years of work in the public sphere, I have been able to create durable ties between Armenian and Russian organizations.
I also held the position of the head of the Loft Armenian Youth Center in Moscow. During my time there, I recognized the significance of collaborating with Armenian youth organizations and student unions. I have gained substantial experience in working with Armenian youth from the universities in Moscow and have earned their trust.
Why am I engaged in social activities and what do I plan to do within the framework of the Diaspora Youth Ambassador program? First of all, I want to show by my example how important it is to maintain one’s connection with Armenia through the programs implemented by our homeland. Secondly, I want to involve the Armenian youth of Russia in these programs to demonstrate to them how important it is to preserve their identity as Armenians living in the Diaspora. Finally, I also wish to convey to them the idea that it is necessary to contribute to the Armenian community, and that anyone can do that.
