Additional Activities
In 2004, established and currently oversees the Federation of Armenian Organizations in the Netherlands (FAON). FAON is widely recognized and respected within Dutch political and social spheres. Beyond community organizing, FAON engages in lobbying efforts to advocate for Armenia and the Armenians.
In 1984, co-founded and served as the inaugural president of the “Abovyan” cultural association (until 1989), and since 1999, has held leadership positions within the organization. During the 1980s, the “Abovyan” association published newspapers "Knar," and from 2000 to 2002, "Lurer" in both Armenian and Dutch, with Matevos Hakhverdi serving as editor. The "Abovyan" association has undertaken numerous social, cultural, and educational initiatives in the Netherlands.
In 1975, became co-founder of the Dutch Armenian Union and served as the organization's board secretary. During this time, together with colleagues, published the monthly "Depi Hayrenik" in Armenian, Dutch, and Turkish (for Turkish-speaking Armenians).
During his youth, organized and led literary and artistic groups in Iran. As a student, was actively involved in the student council and served as the head of the Iranian students' organization in Moscow. Additionally, participated fervently in Armenian student gatherings in Moscow and played a role in organizing the April 24 demonstrations in 1965-1966.
