Silva Sahakyan
My name is Silva Sahakyan and I am 29 years old. I live in Paris, Alfortville, which is known as “Little Armenia”.
I was born and raised outside of Armenia, but I have always been in a close Armenian environment. Since childhood, my family has paid special attention to the preservation of our culture, and I have been surrounded by Armenians, members of numerous Armenian organizations and churches active in France.
I completed the first year of the Master's program in European Law at the Free University of Berlin (Freie Universität Berlin) and also received a Master's degree in European Business Law at the Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University (Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3).
I have been working as a consultant to the governors of French regions (who are elected to local governments) on international relations, European and Oceanic issues, and disability issues for 5 years.
As part of my role I have been paying attention to decentralized cooperation, including partnerships between the French and Armenian communities.
I am the general secretary of Ark of the World organizations which aims to promote the strengthening and deepening of the values of solidarity, tolerance and friendship between nations and peoples. The organization considers its main goal to be the creation of the All-Armenian Union of Young Professionals.
As a Diaspora Youth Ambassador in France, I would like to make the Armenians of France feel welcome in French communities , as well as promote connections between Armenians in other diasporas and those living in Armenia. I also want to bring the French and Armenian communities closer together through civil society and communities so that we can create new decentralized collaborative organisations.
