Ani Meloyan
My name is Ani Meloyan and I am 21 years old. I am a fourth-year university student at the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities at Tyumen State University.
Both in school and at university I was engaged in social activities in my spare time. At first I was an activist in volunteer organizations, then an activist in the Russian Schoolchildren Movement and finally became a member of the city Youth Administration and a member of the Public Youth Chamber of the Tyumen Region. I was twice a member of the region's Student Council.
In April of 2016, I moved to Tyumen and within a month I started attending Armenian folk dances at the Nairi ensemble.
The Armenian Cultural Center named after Mesrop Mashtots was opened in 2018. I began to attend the center and started studying the Armenian language, history, and in 2022 I became one of its first graduates.
At the moment, I am a member of the youth wing of SATO (Union of Armenians of the Tyumen Region) - KAMTO.
At KAMTO we are working on several areas. We organize a number of events, one-time activities, inclusive events and work with young people.
For my activities in Diaspora structures, in public organizations of the region I was honored with the letter of appreciation and received honorary awards from the governor of the Tyumen region, the head of the city of Tyumen and the head of SATO.
As a Diaspora Youth Ambassador program participant I plan to work on developing relations between the homeland and Diaspora. In this difficult time we Armenians need to unite more than ever. An Armenian is not just an ethnicity, it's the vision and the wisdom of the people that has swept through centuries.
