Maral Matig

My name is Maral Matig. I am 24 years old and was born and currently live in Montreal, Canada. My roots trace back to the cities of Caesarea and Kilis in Western Armenia.
I graduated from John Abbott College in Arts, Literature, and Communications, where I also studied several languages, including Spanish, German, and Persian. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Design and Computation Arts from Concordia University in Montreal, where my studies focused on the preservation of Armenian culture.
During university, I joined the Concordia Armenian Students’ Association as Vice President of Marketing and was later elected President. In this role, I organized community events to unite Armenian students, including fundraising campaigns, exhibitions, and gatherings that promoted patriotism and cultural awareness.
Currently, I run my own design business, which includes handmade crafts, graphic design, the creation of Armenian typefaces, painting, and printing. This work allows me to connect with Armenians around the world.
As part of the Diaspora Youth Ambassador program, my goal is to strengthen the Armenian community in Montreal, promote Armenian culture, and build meaningful connections between diaspora communities and Armenia.
