Taguhi Sahakyan

My name is Taguhi Sahakyan. I am 22 years old and currently live in Tbilisi, Georgia.
I was born in the Russian Federation and spent my childhood in Damala, Javakheti—the only Armenian-populated village in the Aspindza region. Growing up outside Armenia, I was raised in an environment deeply rooted in Armenian traditions. From an early age, my family instilled in me a strong sense of patriotism and pride in my heritage. I have always been surrounded by Armenians, thanks to the numerous Armenian organizations and churches in Georgia.
I graduated from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University with a degree in International Relations. This year, I applied for a Master’s program and plan to continue my studies in International Security and Diplomacy.
For the past seven years, I have been actively involved in volunteer work, organizing trainings for the Armenian community in Georgia on topics such as human and women’s rights, civic engagement, and educational opportunities in Georgia and abroad. I have also worked as an Armenian Language and Culture Partner at the American Councils for International Education, promoting Armenian language and culture in American educational institutions.
I am the founder of the “Javakheti Women’s Club,” which aims to empower Armenian women, create employment opportunities, and support innovative initiatives.
As Georgia’s representative in the Diaspora Youth Ambassador program, I aim to strengthen ties between the Armenian diaspora and Armenia. One of my main goals is to unite civil society and communities around a shared vision: fostering closer cooperation between Georgia and Armenia in the long term.
