Emma Hakobyan

My name is Emma Hakobyan. Since the age of five, I have aspired to become a lawyer dedicated to defending Armenians. Because of the war, I was forced to leave my homeland, and I have since lived in Germany, Switzerland, and Spain. I am currently based in Barcelona.
Within the Barcelona Bar Association, I hold two institutional positions: Vice President of the International Criminal Justice and Human Rights Commission, and member of the International Committee. I am proud to be both the first Armenian and the first foreign national to serve in one of Barcelona’s most prestigious and exclusive institutions.
Over the years, I have received awards, published a book, and have even been mentioned in Luis Ocampo’s book as an international leader on Armenian causes. I have actively supported the adoption of resolutions in favor of Armenia and carried out lobbying for Armenian interests at the institutional level.
I deeply believe that every Armenian represents Armenia through every action, every word, and every relationship. For this reason, we must hold ourselves to the highest standards and work together, not only to ensure Armenia’s survival but to help it become a country that people around the world aspire to visit.
My guiding principle comes from John F. Kennedy’s words: “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.”
