Alexandra Ohanian

My name is Alexandra Ohanian. I am 21 years old and live in the south of France, between Marseille and Aix-en-Provence.
Although French by birth and education, I was raised in a deeply Armenian environment. From childhood, my parents ensured that I remained closely connected to our culture, history, language, and traditions. I attended a French-Armenian bilingual school, where my bicultural identity took shape, and I have long been involved in Armenian cultural organizations, particularly in dance and music. From the very beginning, I aspired to be a spokesperson for this dual heritage, defending and transmitting it through both my personal and academic choices.
I graduated from Aix-Marseille University with a double major in Law and in Art History & Archaeology, and I am currently pursuing studies in Musicology. In parallel, I am enrolled at the Komitas State Conservatory in Armenia, specializing in traditional folk music. This represents my personal contribution to building a living bridge between Armenia and France by pursuing both academic and artistic paths in these two countries. In addition, I earned a diploma in Piano Performance from the Conservatory of Marseille.
My commitment also extends to community and civic life. I serve on the board of the “JAF - Jeunesse Arménienne de France” (Armenian Youth of France), where I coordinate artistic and educational programs. As a solo musician, I perform with the Armenian orchestra “Sassoun”, whose mission is to preserve and share Armenian musical heritage with a wider audience.
Alongside my academic and cultural journey, I have invested in the field of public speaking. As a finalist in the Lions Club eloquence contest and a multiple-time participant in the “Démosthène” competition, I later put this experience to use as a trainer in oratory art. For me, oratory is not only a means of self-expression but also a vital tool to transmit values, shape civic thinking, and inspire society — a skill I am committed to passing on to younger generations.
As a Diaspora Youth Ambassador in France, my mission is to strengthen ties between the diaspora and Armenia, promote our culture within French and international society, give a voice to Armenian youth, encourage cooperation between institutions and associations, and support the creation of collective and lasting projects. I am convinced that culture is not only a heritage but also a peaceful and universal force. It unites, it transmits, and it resists. As long as it continues to live and be shared, the Armenian people will remain alive, united, and oriented toward the future.
