Hayk Hovhanissyan
I am a graduate of the Russian State University for the Humanities with a Master’s degree in Middle Eastern studies. In addition to graduating with honors, I was also named “Best Graduate of RSUH 2019” for my in-depth research. Throughout my education, I have pursued international internships in Arabic studies in Israel, Palestine and Morocco. I have studied Kurdish language and history at the Kurdish Community House in Moscow (Mala Kurda), and have taken courses on Islamic fundamentalism at the HSE. I am also one of the leaders of the “Armenian Youth Historical Community'' (MAIS). My professional experience varies; I have worked at the travel agency “Globe-Travel'' and have visited over 20 countries. I have also been the Head of the Department of Interethnic Relations in the “Students of Moscow'' organization. In February 2020, I started working at the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, first in the Department of Foreign Relations, then as an assistant to a deputy.
As an iGorts fellow, I am working in the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs as a specialist in Russian-speaking Armenian communities in post-Soviet countries.
