Purpose
Creating a network of Armenian youth ambassadors
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia continues to implement the annual Diaspora Youth Ambassador program (Training for Diaspora Armenian Youth Leaders), which is open to youth both active in the community and those just starting out with their activities.
The program aims to enable Diaspora Armenian youth to expand their views on Armenia’s political, social, economic and other issues, support their greater involvement in community life, and increase the efficiency of their activities, through the transfer of new knowledge and skills, fostering connections, exchanging experiences, as well as, contributing to the formation and development of collaboration between youth from various Diaspora communities and Armenia.
The program is for 1 year, has 2 stages, and covers the period from September 2024 to August 2025, of which 15-days will be spent in Armenia, from September 22 to October 7, 2024. Throughout the rest of the year, participants will carry out activities planned during the program in their communities.
The program will be conducted in Armenian. It will be a blend of theoretical and practical work and include a number of lectures, workshops, and meetings, along with an experience exchange. Participants will visit state, scientific-educational, cultural, and religious institutions, memorable places, and regions within the Republic of Armenia.
TERMS OF PARTICIPATION
Participants will be responsible for their transportation costs to and from Armenia for the 15 day in-country portion of the program, and will obtain travel insurance at their own expense.
The organizers will provide:
- Accommodation and meals in Armenia
- Transportation within Armenia, during the 15 day in-country portion of the program
- Entrance to planned places and institutions
The program is funded by the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Jinishian Memorial Foundation.
PARTICIPATION CRITERIA
Category I
For Diaspora Armenian youth who are active in the community (more than 1 year)
Participants will be selected based on the following selection criteria:
- Be 20-35 years old of Armenian origin
- Have lived in the Diaspora for at least 5 years
- Working knowledge of Armenian (ability to understand and communicate)
- Leader or active member of Diaspora communities; youth or religious organizations; persons actively involved in community life; etc
- Have experience organizing and/or coordinating community programs/events
Selected participants will have the opportunity to become partners of the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs in the communities, and to expand the network of Diaspora Youth
Ambassadors through their involvement.
Participants who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate of participation in the Diaspora Youth Ambassador program.
Category II
For Diaspora Armenian youth who have just started their activities in the community (up to 1 year)
Participants will be selected based on the following selection criteria:
- Be 20-35 years old of Armenian origin
- Have lived in the Diaspora for at least 5 years
- Working knowledge of Armenian (ability to understand and communicate)
- Have been members of community, youth and religious organizations over the last year and strive to improve activities within their community
- Have volunteer work experience
Selected participants will have the opportunity to gain experience and become acquainted with the activities of other communities, as well as acquire practical skills and knowledge for effective involvement in various areas of community life.
Participants who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate confirming their participation in the training program for Diaspora youth leaders.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
About 100 applications were received for participation in the 2024-2025 "Diaspora Youth Ambassador" program from 29 countries: Australia, Germany, Romania, France, Greece, Slovakia, Spain, Austria, Czech Republic, United Kingdom, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, Belgium, Netherlands, Ukraine, Georgia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, United Arab Emirates, Iran, Syria, Russia, USA, Argentina, China, and India. For the first time, applications were received from Slovakia, Lithuania, Latvia, and Moldova.
Shortlisted applicants were invited for an online interview. 30 participants from 20 countries were selected.
2021 PARTICIPANTS
20 participants from 16 countries participated in the 2021 program. The countries included Canada, Argentina, Jerusalem, Lebanon, Russia, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus, Netherlands, Germany, Spain, England, France, Sweden, Belgium, and Austria. To meet the Diaspora Youth Ambassadors, click here.
2022 PARTICIPANTS
20 young people from 12 countries participated in the 2022 program. The countries included USA, India, UAE, Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Russia, Syria, Kyrgyzstan. To meet the Diaspora Youth Ambassadors, click here.

28 youth from 18 countries are participating in the 2024 program: Australia, Germany, Romania, France, Spain, Czech Republic, United Kingdom, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, Netherlands, Georgia, Belarus, Iran, Russia, USA, and China.
