Meeting with Armenian Educational Foundation
10 June 2022
During his working visit to Los Angeles, High Commissioner Zareh Sinanyan met with the leadership of the Armenian Educational Foundation (AEF), which has been supporting educational institutions and students of Armenian heritage in Armenia, Artsakh, Javakhk, the United States, and Lebanon since 1950.
Mr. Sinanyan thanked the institution for its patriotic endeavors, which are expanding their work and cooperation every year in Armenia, Artsakh, and the Diaspora - from building schools to scholarships, computers for students, creating Armat laboratories in schools, programs to provide schools with stationery, scholarships for Diaspora Armenian students, etc.....
"After the 2020 war, AEF was one of the Diaspora organizations that overcame disappointment and frustration and persevered, and with that put more effort into aiding the Homeland," said the High Commissioner. The participants of the meeting were then introduced to the activities of the office.
The Vice President of the institution, Peter Baghdassarian, stressed that he had recently expanded his scholarship program and this year would provide 1,200 scholarships to students.
In selecting scholarship recipients, AEF prioritizes those who have served in the 44-day war and the children of fallen soldiers. In cases when a student is drafted after receiving an AEF scholarship, their scholarship is reinstated upon return from military service.
Recognizing the importance of the IT sector in the economic growth of Armenia and Artsakh, AEF funds Armath Engineering Labs in village schools where students learn programming, and coding and are introduced to robotics.
