Matevos Hakhverdi, appointed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, serves as the Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs in the Netherlands.

Since establishing the Federation of Armenian Organizations in the Netherlands (FAON) in 2004, he remains at its forefront. FAON is a well-respected entity within Dutch political and social circles. Alongside community initiatives, FAON actively engages in advocating for the interests of Armenia and Armenians through lobbying efforts.

In 1984, Matevos Hachverdi co-founded and served as the inaugural president of the cultural association "Abovyan" until 1989, and since 1999, he has remained at its helm.
