Businesses and Organizations in Armenia Provide Jobs for Repatriates

Keeping Armenia and the Diaspora Updated with Important News from the RA Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs

YEREVAN, ARMENIA (October 14, 2021) – On October 13th, the RA Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs held an informational meeting for repatriates on “Business and Employment Opportunities in Armenia.” Headed by the Office’s Repatriation Coordinator Hovhannes Aleksanyan, the meeting’s purpose was to introduce repatriates to new business and job opportunities in Armenia, which included panellists from the Fund for Armenian Relief, Sportion AM, leading software products provider Arctx and the United Nations Development Program. Repatriates from 10 countries were in attendance, including Turkmenistan, Lebanon, Turkey, Syria, Israel, Germany, Russia, Holland, Iraq and Iran.

The Diaspora Youth Ambassador program concluded after an extensive, two-week period of practical lectures, official meetings and study tours in Armenia and Artsakh. Twenty Diaspora Youth Ambassadors from 16 countries will continue the program in their respective communities, conducting various community events and awareness campaigns until next May.

Along with the Diaspora Youth Ambassador program, the RA Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs continues to place Diaspora professionals from the iGorts program in Armenia’s state institutions for yearlong work. Recently, Cypriot-Armenian Hagop Ipdjian stationed in Artsakh with State Minister Artak Beglaryan’s Office, and Karine Atabekyan from Russia began her work in Armenia’s National Assembly with the Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration. There are currently over 40 iGorts professionals from 20 countries working in Armenia’s state system in the second year of the program.  

Diaspora communities provide all kinds of support to ensure Armenia’s overall wellbeing. This week, High Commissioner Zareh Sinanyan visited the head of French-Armenian humanitarian organization “Altitude 5165 and learned about their activities, particularly the dental clinic in the city of Vagharshapat that provides free services to residents. The High Commissioner also met with Corinne Duguer, the Deputy Mayor of Le Plessis-Robinson, France, who maintains close ties with “Nour” Armenian association and school headed by Sona Sureken Sungulyan, the Diaspora Youth Ambassador in France.
